How to Check an Ignition Coil for Continuity on a Jeep Cherokee
- 1). Set the dial on the voltmeter to "Ohms."
- 2). Touch the red lead on the voltmeter to one of the terminals on the ignition coil (it doesn't matter which one).
- 3). Touch the black lead on the voltmeter to the other terminal on the ignition coil.
- 4). Note the readout on the voltmeter display screen. The resistance on the voltmeter should be between ".05" and "0." If it is higher than ".05," then you need to replace the ignition coil.
