How to Find the Oil Filter in an F350 6.4L Diesel
- 1). Park your F350 on level ground. Shut off the engine and pull the hood release. Position a stepladder in front of the engine and climb the ladder. Lift the hood and prop it open. Locate the air filter box and line, which are toward the front on the driver's side.
- 2). Locate the oil filter cap. The oil filter sits inside a canister that has a plastic cap attached with a 36-mm plastic bolt. There are two similar side-by-side caps. The oil filter cap is the one on the left, and it's the only cap on which the 36-mm wrench will fit properly (see Resources for a picture).
- 3). Remove the cap and the filter should come with it. This is due to the tight fit of the filter within the cap. If the filter does not come off with the cap, lift the filter straight out by hand.
