The 2009 version of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 is manufactured by American Suzuki Motor Corporation. The GSX-R1000 line is specifically designed for racetrack performance, and was crowned the AMA Superbike Championship Winner for six years running. The 2009 version was retooled to make the bike lighter, compact and more powerful. It retails for about $12,899. - The 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 is 80.5 inches in length and 28 inches wide, with a seat height of 31.9 inches. It features a 6-speed, constant mesh transmission and a wheelbase of 55.3 inches. Its fuel tank capacity is 4.6 gallons and it has a ground clearance of 5.1 inches. The rear subframe and tail section of the bike are made of a new one-piece aluminum alloy that makes the bike much lighter than previous models. The Suzuki bike comes in three different color combinations: blue and white, red and black, and black and matte black.
- According to the American Suzuki Motor Corporation, the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 features a 999cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It also has a DOHC valve configuration. The engine features a clean-sheet design that is meant to increase combustion efficiency. The transmission and the crankshaft on the 2009 model have been repositioned and are closer together, making for a smaller engine. Altogether, the engine is 60mm shorter from front to rear than previous models. The bike features an electric starter and an electronic transmission. Its compression ratio is 12.8:1, compared to the previous model's compression ratio of 12.5:1.
- Individuals who purchase a 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 will also have the opportunity to pick up several accompanying accessories. These include chassis protectors in black or white, as well as custom covers for the bike's meter and side mirror. Bike owners can also choose to order customized gel seats or license plate covers, tank covers and tank pads.
- The American Suzuki Motor Corporation launched the GSX-R1000 Series in 2001. The line was build to replace the popular GSX-R1100 series. It was dubbed the GSX-R1000 because its engine's cylinder displacement was about 100 cc smaller than the old line's. The GSX-R1000 line is classified as a sport bike and is built for performance and speed.
