    Coasters

    • If you have furniture that won't stand up well to moisture, pass out old CDs for guests to use as coasters. Used labeled side down, they can protect your furniture from damage. They also look hip and modern, especially with minimalist decor. If you want to use them as coasters but don't like the silver of the CDs, try covering them in card stock, magazine clippings or even old wallpaper, using a little glue or Mod Podge. By employing different colors and textures, you can create coasters that match your decor exactly.

    Party Invites

    • Are you a music lover who wants to invite your friends to a party where music will be the main event? Send out invites on old CDs. You can use a permanent marker on the silver side of the disc to write down all of the party information and let the CD artwork be the decoration, or you can use a CD-creating program, such as Nero, to print off a sticky label for your CDs. You can enter in all of the information and then purchase CD labels at your local office supply store. Stick the labels on and mail each invite out in its own protective sleeve. You'll just need to make sure you pay the extra postage for a heavier object.

    Wallpaper Border

    • If you have a teen who lives and breathes music, using your old CDs as a wallpaper border is the perfect way to show off his interests. Use small finishing nails to hang the CDs through the center hole. Place the CDs silver side out or label side out if you want a more eclectic, rocker feel. You can hang them one by one, overlap them slightly or even use them for borders around other features in the room, like a doorway or a mirror. It depends on how many CDs you have at your disposal. It make take a lot, but it's an interesting take on a regular border.
