- 1). Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. Locate the two batteries along the fender wall. One battery will be on the left and the other on the right.
- 2). Unbolt the positive and negative cables on both batteries with a socket wrench. Place the cables out of the way.
- 3). Unbolt a retaining rod with a socket wrench. Unbolt the other retaining rod on the other battery.
- 4). Pull both batteries out of the engine compartment. Place the replacement batteries in the engine compartment.
- 5). Secure the retaining rods over the batteries. Tighten with a socket wrench.
- 6). Place the positive cables onto the positive terminals. Tighten the cables with a socket wrench. Position the negative cables on to the negative terminals. Tighten with a socket wrench.
- 7). Start the truck and allow it to idle to ensure the batteries are fully charged. Turn the truck off. Close the hood.
