Founded in 1994, Evergreen Solar manufactures solar power products, including its ES-E series solar panels. The photovoltaic panels contain solar cells which utilize Evergreen's trademark String Ribbon technology. The specifications for the solar cells are part of the solar power production that enables the company to compete in the emerging alternative energy field.

    Composition

    • Evergreen solar cells are composed of multicrystalline silicon, manufactured as its trademark String Ribbon wafers. Silicon has the ability to generate electric current when exposed to light, thus its usage in solar cells. The solar cells are placed inside ES-E series panels that produce 210, 215 or 220 watts of power, depending upon the model selected. The panels' frame consists of black anodized aluminum-double walled. The front cover is antireflective tempered solar glass, 1.8 inch thick, that allows the solar cells to produce more electricity by keeping them cool.

    Number

    • Each panel contains 120 multicrystalline silicon string ribbon solar cells. According to Evergreen, the color of the solar cells may vary due to its special production methods involving String Ribbon, but the color changes do not affect the performance of the cells.

    NOCT

    • Nominal operating cell temperature conditions (NOCT) measures the expected working temperature of a solar cell under standard conditions. Evergreen's NOCT for all three models of the ES-E series is 114 degrees Fahrenheit with the power output at that temperature 153 to 161 watts, depending upon the model.
