My Sony TV Is Not Working With the Remote
- 1). Remove the batteries from the remote control.
- 2). Test the batteries in another device.
- 3). Put fresh batteries in the remote control if the original ones are weak or drained.
- 4). Inspect the battery terminals for unbending or breakage.
- 5). Bend the terminals back in place, or replace the remote control if any of the battery terminals are broken.
- 1). Check the connection between the IR Blaster and its port on the Base Station.
- 2). Press buttons on the device you are trying to control remotely, such as a DVR, to ensure that the device is working.
- 3). Check your owner's manual to ensure that your brand of device is supported by the on-screen remote control.
- 4). Ensure that the IR Blaster is aligned correctly with the IR receiver. Move the IR receiver away from direct bright light.
- 5). Reprogram the on-screen remote control settings according to your owner's manual instructions. Ensure that the remote control settings for "Video 1" and "Video 2" are configured correctly in the "Remote Settings" window
- 1). Use the original remote control that came with the TV to ensure that you can access menus and settings specific to your Sony TV model.
- 2). Check the age of your components. Home theater components that are more than seven years old may not be compatible with a universal remote.
- 3). Check the age of your universal remote. Older universal remotes may not work with your newer TV.
- 4). Set your receiver to "Command Mode 1" to use a universal remote control with your Sony TV.
