    • 1). Clean the black painted surface with a solution of soap and water. Use a rag to remove any deposits of dirt and debris then rinse the painted surface thoroughly. Allow the painted surface to completely dry before proceeding.

    • 2). Shake a can of clear coat spray to thoroughly mix. Hold the nozzle of the can 8 inches to 10 inches from the black painted surface. Apply an even coat to the painted surface.

    • 3). Wait 15 minutes and apply another coat of clear coat spray. Continue to apply clear coat spray until you have three coats to four coats on the black painted surface. Allow the coats of paint to dry and cure for 24 hours.

    • 4). Dip a piece of 1500 grit wet sandpaper in water. Lightly sand the applied clear coat to remove imperfections in the spray coating such as dust particles. Wipe the surface with a damp rag to remove the dust.

    • 5). Dip a clean rag in light abrasive rubbing compound. Apply the compound with small circular motions to the clear coat. Allow the compound to dry completely and then buff to a high gloss with a clean and dry rag.
