Humble Ways to Enjoy Your Home This Winter

103 21
Many people experience a sense of depression or what I call the winter blahs once the holidays are over and the new year is upon us.
If you tend to spend more time at home during the cold months you should make every effort to feel comfortable in your space and think of new ways to get inspired.
By doing so you can overcome such feelings of despair during this time of year.
Take a look around your home, once the tree has been taken down and the decorations are gone, your house may feel bare and you might too.
You can use this feeling as an opportunity to re-invent yourself and the space around you.
Doing so doesn't have to involve a complete remodel or cost a lot of money.
You can simply pull a few new colors together in one area of your home to give the space a new look and feel.
If you craft, the winter months are a great time to get the creative juices flowing.
Get your work space organized, if you don't have one, now is a great time to create a space to work.
Purchase a few inexpensive bookshelves to keep supplies organized.
Decorate old coffee cans to match your personality and use as containers to store scissors markers and more.
If you simply want to spruce up a particular area in your home you can do so by picking a new theme, color or even scent that you'd like to include in your special room.
Yes, a scent.
Instead of going to the home improvement store to look at paint samples, check out the candle selection at a local gift shop instead.
Choose a color and scent that appeals to you and draw from it.
You may discover a theme for you room that will include rich coffee brown colors as well as the scent of fresh brewed coffee.
This may give you the idea to give your dining room the look and feel of a casual cafe instead of just a place to eat.
Try shopping at thrift stores to find unique and reasonably priced furniture or accent pieces for your special space.
Sometimes you can start with something as simple as a vintage tea cup that will get you thinking about a new look for your bedroom or bath.
Coordinate colors to go along with the theme.
Once you've picked up special additions to your room, get rid of anything that doesn't go.
Too many different colors and themes in one room tend to over stimulate you and make a room feel cluttered.
If the pieces have special meaning you don't have to throw them away, neatly store them in the attic or in a closet.
The idea is to enjoy the space around you while you will be spending more time inside.
You never know, by doing so, winter might just become your favorite time of year!!!
