Foam Crafts for Toddlers

104 5

    Valentine Butterfly

    • This cute and simple holiday foam craft is a delightful way for toddlers to express their love. The base of the butterfly is a craft stick. Use precut hearts, or cut your own hearts from red and pink foam. An adult will need to do the cutting. Foam heart stickers also work well and are found in most craft sections during the Valentine's Day season. Stick or glue two smaller hearts in the middle of two larger hearts. Glue or stick the two larger hearts to the craft stick. One big heart should be on each side just above the middle near the top. The point of the hearts attach to the stick while the tops of the hearts stand out to make wings. Add wiggle eyes to make a face. The craft can be used as a puppet as well.

    Foam Picture Frame

    • This foam craft makes a great homemade gift for parents. Cut a foam frame or purchase precut foam frames large enough to accommodate the desired picture. There should be at least a 3 cm portion of foam border around the picture. Cut or purchase small foam shapes. These can be purchased with or without a sticker backing. Help the child glue the picture in the middle of the frame. He can then decorate the border by gluing or sticking on the foam shapes. Use a variety of colors or create a theme such as winter, fall or a holiday.

    Halloween Foam Pumpkin

    • Children love creating holiday art. Even toddlers can make a fun holiday craft with foam. Use a large piece of orange foam to create the outline of a pumpkin. Then allow children to "carve" their own jack-o-lantern by gluing black or yellow facial features to the pumpkin. They can cut green and brown foam to add a green leaf and brown stem to the top.
