How to Print Digital Scrapbooking

    • 1). Resize your finished scrapbook layout so it will fit in your album. Most digital scrapbooking papers are 12-by-12, but a typical home ink-jet printer can only print up to an 8.5-by-11 piece of paper. Therefore, you will need to make your layout either a 6-by-6 or 8-by-8 design.

    • 2). Choose your paper. There are more options than ever before when it comes to printing your digital scrapbooking layouts. Photo paper is the most obvious choice, although the matte versus glossy debate is entirely a matter of personal preference. Printing your layout onto textured acid-free card stock gives it an artistic quality. You could also try printing your layout onto vellum or a transparency and layering it over a subtly patterned background to add an extra bit of dimension to your design.

    • 3). Adjust your printer settings. Many people leave their printers on a "draft" setting to save money when printing their documents. For digital scrapbooking, however, you will want to use the highest quality possible. In most cases, you also will need to select the type of paper you want to use before you print your document.

    • 4). Print your layout. Depending upon the type of paper you've selected and your brand of printer, it may take a while for the ink to dry. Be careful not to get smudges, dust or fingerprints on your project while the ink is still wet.

    • 5). Trim your layout before adding it to your scrapbook album.
