Guide Review - Mophie workbook iPad Case Review

Not Just Good Looks

The Mophie workbook is a stylish iPad case, but it's got more than just looks going for it, including versatility.

The workbook is a folio-style case that the iPad slips into on one side. The other side is a protective flap that covers the screen and doubles as part of the stand used to prop the iPad up. The case is held shut when not in use by an elastic strap.

Because the iPad slips into the case and its sides are open, the workbook allows access to all of the iPad's ports and buttons, and the iPad can also be synced while in the case.

The iPad side of the case has a couple of small Velcro feet on it which allow the iPad to be propped up against the plush back of the cover flap.

Because the workbook uses Velcro, it's not limited to one or two positions, instead allowing many positions based on where you secure the Velcro. This flexibility is appealing.

A Chink in the Armor?

While the workbook is versatile and offers solid protection, I'd be a bit more concerned than usual about dropping the iPad while in the workbook due to the openings on its sides. While these openings are what provide access to the iPad's ports and buttons, they also leave the sides and corners of the iPad exposed, which could leave it open to shocks, scratches, and dents if dropped.

Conclusions

The Mophie workbook is one of the better folio-style iPad cases I've tested. It's stylish, flexible, and reasonably priced. The lack of sides/corner protection does give me some pause, but I'd certainly consider it if I was shopping for an iPad case.
