How to Keep Hallway Carpet From Sliding to One Side
- 1). Position the carpet according to your needs and desires. Trace the outline of the carpet with a pencil.
- 2). Remove the carpet or push it out of the way so that 3 inches of the flooring surface is exposed.
- 3). Stretch the carpet tape along three quarters of the length of the carpet. Use cloth carpet tape for wood or manufactured floors and fiberglass tape for tile or vinyl flooring.
- 4). Position the tape 1 to 2 inches from the marks you made in Step 1. One adhesive side of the tape will be exposed as you pull the tape off of the roll. Peel off the plastic strip concealing the second adhesive side.
- 5). Place the carpet on top of the tape in the proper position. Press down or walk on the carpet directly over the tape to create a sturdy bond.
