- 1). Plug your iPod into its charger cable and the cable into the USB port on the new computer. Unplug and try again if the computer doesn't recognize the iPod.
- 2). Open iTunes if it hasn't already opened automatically. A message will appear, asking if you want to sync with this new computer.
- 3). Select "Sync and erase" to sync your iPod with this new computer. Wait while the iPod syncs. For a 30 GB iPod, this usually takes about 15 minutes.
- 4). Remove the iPod safely from the new computer by pushing the eject button -- it looks like a triangle positioned over a line -- next to the iPod's name in iTunes. If you unplug it while it's syncing, the process will not work and you'll have to start again.
