Paintball Guns Have Come a Long Way Since the Early Days
Once upon a time, paintball was a sport played between a few people. Back then, the paintball guns were tools used in the foresting industry to mark trees for cutting. It all started off as a bunch of coworkers in Rochester, New York horsing around with these tools. And so, paintball was born.
The first regularly used paintball gun was the Nelspot 007. This was actually designed for the forest industry. Eventually, it was seen that these foresting tools had to be modified to cut down on the power and speed. Too many people were getting hurt.
This led, naturally, to the creation of paintball guns specifically made for the sport. The Splatmaster, created by Robert G. Shepard, was the first of its kind. This eventually led to more electropneumatic paintball guns such as the Shocker and The Angel.
From there, paintball guns became more and more sophisticated in design. Many of the problems of the older ones were eliminated. As game play became more focused on military strategy, new kinds of markers became needed.
It was all well and good to have pistol type guns for a while. Then there came a call for other kinds of weapons, like machine guns and sniper rifles. Several brands began making these variations of the paintball gun. This created a new problem: Paintball was getting expensive.
Finally, modification kits and modifiable paintball guns hit the market. This made the variations in game play affordable again. With one marker, you can now have a pistol, a machine gun, or even a sniper rifle, depending on what the game calls for.
