How to Change a PCV Valve in a 1997 Camry

    • 1). Locate the PCV valve installed in the valve cover and wipe the exterior of the valve with the paper towel to remove any dirt or debris that might fall into the engine.

    • 2). Disconnect the hose leading to the PCV valve by gently pulling on the hose while moving it in a lateral motion.

    • 3). Remove the PVC valve from the valve cover by pulling the valve firmly away from the valve cover.

    • 4). Compare the old PVC valve with the new valve to make sure it is the correct part.

    • 5). Push the PCV valve into the valve cover until it fully seats.

    • 6). Reconnect the hose from the intake manifold to the PCV valve by sliding the hose over the connector of the valve. A small amount of motor oil can be used on the new PCV valve connector to ease the effort required to fully seat the hose.
