How to Modify an Impact Wrench for More Power

104 13
    • 1). Locate the pressure regulator on your air compressor. The pressure regulator is a gauge that shows you the amount of air pressure going to the impact wrench.

    • 2). Turn the regulator dial on the pressure regulator until the dial reads 85 pounds per square inch. This is the maximum amount of air pressure you can send to an air-driven tool without damaging the tool.

    • 3). Locate the pressure dial on the handle of the impact wrench and turn the dial clockwise all of the way. The dial is a “bleed-off” valve. When the air pressure exceeds the setting of the valve, it forces the excess air out of the impact wrench instead of using it to run the tool. Closing it completely turns off the bleeding function and allows all of the air to run through the tool.
