How to Remove the Headlamp Assembly From a VW Jetta
- 1). Open the hood of the engine and prop the hood on the hood prop.
- 2). Locate the backside of the headlamp assembly. This is relatively straightforward as the backside is black and attaches to the other side of the clear headlamp lens.
- 3). Remove the two light sockets on the backside of the assembly. To do so, turn each socket counterclockwise a quarter turn and then pull the socket free of the assembly. Take caution because the halogen bulbs are connected to the sockets.
- 4). Remove the two bolts that secure the top half of the headlamp assembly to the radiator support using a socket and ratchet.
- 5). Pull up on the headlamp assembly to remove it from the front of the vehicle. The bottom of the assembly has a tab that presses into the bumper fascia. When you pull up on the assembly, it separates the tab from the bumper.
