How to Replace the Tensioner Pulley of a 1995 Ford 351
- 1). Pull your Ford into a flat area, with plenty of room to access the front of the vehicle. Pop the hood.
- 2). Climb out of the truck and lift the hood. Secure it with the latch bar. This will allow light to shine down onto the belt assembly.
- 3). Climb under the vehicle and locate the tensioner pulley. This will be located on the end of a metal arm and be accompanied by a copper or brass bolt end called the auto tensioner.
- 4). Connect a 14 mm socket wrench to the auto tensioner and twist it counterclockwise. While holding pressure on the wrench, remove the belt from the tensioner pulley.
- 5). Remove the tensioner pulley's mounting bolt using a 12 mm socket wrench. Slide the pulley off the spin shaft.
- 6). Slide a replacement pulley onto the spin shaft and replace the mounting bolt.
- 7). Reconnect a 14 mm socket wrench to the auto tensioner. Put counterclockwise pressure on the wrench once again and slide the belt over the tensioner pulley.
- 8). Climb out from underneath the vehicle and close the hood.
