    Viewing Word Document with the iPhone's Email Application

    • 1). Install your primary email accounts on your Mail Application, one of the four permanent application icons in the bottom row of your iPhone. The Mail Application can handle HTML rich messages and works easily with common email carriers. Touch the Mail Application icon and enter your email and password. If you need to add an additional account to the Mail Application, touch the "Settings" icon and then select the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" icon. Select "Add Account" touch the appropriate carrier icon and enter your address and password.

    • 2). Press the "Email icon" after your Email Application has been installed. This will automatically load all your email. The application is preset to show your 50 recent messages and preview them with two lines of text. If you would like to change these options, touch the "Settings" icon and then select the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" icon. Select "Show" then "Preview" in the "Mail" section to make whatever adjustments you want.

    • 3). Select an email message that includes a Word document. There will be a paper clip icon to the right of the name of the person who sent you the file.

    • 4). Find the Word document at the end of the message you have selected. Touch the rectangle with a blue "W" icon at the left end and a gray ">" at the right at the end of the message. The Word document will scroll onto the screen from the right. To magnify it, place two fingers on the screen at the same time and move the fingers in opposite directions. You can also turn your iPhone sideways to view the document in landscape mode.

    • 5). Hit the spiral arrow at the bottom left corner of the screen when all available email is displayed. This will manually refresh your email.

    View Using iPhone's Documents to go Applicaiton

    • 1). Download the Documents To Go Application from the iTunes App Store to view Word documents that are on your home or work Mac computer using your iPhone. Choose the "App Store" icon. Use the "Search" icon with the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen and typing in "Documents to Go" at the top of the screen. Or find it by pressing the "Categories" icon at the bottom with the file box and then the "Productivity" category. The "Documents To Go" Application can be found in the Top Paid Applications for this category. Hit the blue button in the top right corner of the screen with the purchase price. Then select the green "Buy Now" box that will appear in its place. After you enter your iTunes password, the program will automatically download.

    • 2). Connect your iPhone to your computer once the application has been downloaded.

    • 3). Download the Documents To Go Desktop Application from the DataViz website. (The link is in the Resources section).

    • 4). Find the "My DocsToGo" file folder in your Documents folder that the Desktop Application will automatically create. Any Word file you want to view on your iPhone should be copied or moved into this folder. After you do so, go to your iTunes application, highlight your iPhone under the "Devices" section on the left-hand side and press "Sync" at the bottom right corner. This will copy the Word document to your iPhone.

    • 5). Touch the "DocsToGo" application icon. Select the file you have moved onto the iPhone. You can magnify it by placing two fingers on the screen at the same time and moving your fingers in opposite directions. You can also turn your iPhone sideways to view the document in landscape mode.
