Leather Jewelry Making Instructions
- 1). Cut a length of leather cord about 1/2 inch shorter than you will want your finished necklace or bracelet. An average-length women's necklace should measure 17 to 19 inches and an average bracelet between 7 and 9 inches. Cut the leather at an angle for easier stringing.
- 2). Apply a dab of jewelry glue to the inside of your first crimp end. Thread the leather cord into the end with the length of leather emerging away from the loop on the crimp end. Crimp in place and trim any excess leather. Allow the glue to dry for several minutes.
- 3). String desired beads, charms or pendants onto the leather cord from the non-crimped end. Make sure any beads you use have a hole large enough to accommodate the leather but small enough to fit snugly in place.
- 4). Apply a dab of jewelry glue to the other crimp and and repeat step 2 with the other end of your necklace or bracelet.
- 5). Open a jump ring by gripping either side of the opening with your two sets of pliers. Twist the pliers in opposite directions to open the ring. String the loop from one crimp end and one half of the clasp onto the jump ring. Close the ring by reversing the twisting motion. Repeat with the other jump ring, crimp end and clasp.
