- 1). Eject the iPhone's SIM card holder. This can be done using a pin or a paperclip to push down on the small hole at the top of the phone.
- 2). Place your SIM card inside the holder and push the holder back into the top of the phone.
- 3). Turn on your iPhone. You will gain a cellular signal from the provider of your SIM card after the phone has booted up.
- 4). Contact your wireless provider and ask for the provider's "APN" (access point name) information. This information tells your phone how to connect to the EDGE wireless data network.
- 5). Tap the "Settings" icon on your iPhone, select "General" and then select "Cellular Data Network."
- 6). Enter your APN information into the fields provided. For instance, if you were entering T-Mobile's APN information into your iPhone, you'd type "wap.voicestream.com" into the APN field and leave the user name and password blank.
- 7). Press the "Home" button, open Safari and attempt to load a web page. The page should load, which means your EDGE data network has been configured correctly.
