How to Add Music From Your iPod to a New Computer
- 1). Locate the USB data cable included with your iPod device. Insert this cable into the bottom dock of your iPod. Insert the other end of the cable into an open USB port on your computer.
- 2). Turn on your computer. Wait for the machine to start up. Click the "Start" button and then select "Control Panel." Double-click the "Portable Media Devices" icon.
- 3). Double-click your iPod's icon in the list of available drives. Click the "Tools" menu and then select "Options." Choose the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option.
- 4). Open the folder called "\iPod_Control\Music." This folder contains all of the audio files on your iPod device. The tracks are separated into sub-folders by artist. Click the and drag then entire music folder to your desktop or drag individual tracks from the sub-folders. Your computer will automatically copy the files to the hard-drive.
