Tools for Supension on Ford Trucks

    Torsion Bar Tool

    • A torsion bar tool is used on the Ford suspension to hold the torsion bar in place while the front suspension is adjusted. The torsion bar is used to hold the weight of the Ford truck, and is attached to the suspension arm and spring. The tool holds the torsion bar in place while the suspension spring is raised or lowered to the desired height. A torsion bar will slip out of place and damage the tie rods or other suspension components if this holding tool is not used.

    Strut Tamer

    • A strut tamer is a tool used on the Ford suspension to remove or insert the suspension spring assembly. The tool is a stand that can be slid into the wheel well of the Ford truck and compress the suspension spring assembly while it is being detached from the truck. Once the suspension spring assembly is detached from the Ford truck, the strut tamer can be slid out from under the wheel well and access to the assembly can be easily gained.

    Tie Rod Tool

    • A tie rod tool is used on the Ford suspension to install a new tie rod or remove a damaged tie rod on the suspension. The tool is similar to a socket, but is designed with a longer cylinder that can slide into the wheel well and onto the end of the tie rod. The tie rod tool generally comes with different size crow's feet to fit different size Ford suspensions.

    U-joint Driver

    • A U-joint driver is used to remove the U-joint cap and easily gain access to the drive shaft. The U-joint attaches the drive shaft to the axle assembly of the Ford suspension. The tool slides over the end of the U-joint cap similar to a socket of a ratchet set. A ratchet can be used on the U-joint driver tool to loosen or tighten the cap.
