96 Civic Dash Removal Guide
- 1). Turn the Civic's engine off and raise the hood. Disconnect the Civic's battery, using a socket wrench. Remove the negative cable from the battery.
- 2). Open the glove box and remove the two rubber holders on each side. Pull the box down and remove the two bolts on each side, using a socket wrench, then pull the box out of the Civic.
- 3). Remove the two screws that secure each armrest, using a Phillips screwdriver, and remove the armrests. Remove the four screws from the cup holder frame and pull it out of the Civic. Disconnect the cigarette console and remove it. Disconnect the climate console and radio. Pull them out, as well.
- 4). Remove the four screws that secure the instrument cluster to the vehicle. Disconnect the instrument cluster's electrical connector and pull it out of the Civic. Lower the steering wheel of the Civic to its lowest position.
- 5). Remove the ten screws from the dashboard: The first one is located at the center of the top of the dashboard, by the windshield; the second and third screws are located where the glove box used to be; screws four and five are located where the cup holder frame was located; screws six and seven are on the left side of the steering wheel; the last three screws are above the center frame, where the radio was installed. Once all the screws have been removed, you can simply pull the dashboard out of the Civic.
