How to Protect a Leather Couch From Pets
- 1). Look at your local pet store for pet covers that fit over couches. These covers vary in size, so measure your couch before purchasing anything. Fit the cover onto the couch following the instructions. If the cover fits over only a portion of the couch, train your pet to lie only on the cover.
- 2). Lay an old blanket on one end of the couch and allow the pet to sit only on the blanket when on the furniture.
- 3). Purchase a bed for your pet and lay it near the couch. Train the animal to lie in the bed as opposed to the couch. Each time the pet jumps on the couch remove it and firmly say "no." Place or lead the pet to its bed instead.
- 4). Block the room with the leather couch with a closed door or baby gate when you leave the home. Non-access to the furniture prevents those unfortunate chewing or scraping accidents when you leave the pet alone.
