How to Remove Glue From Headliner Boards

    Plastic Headliner Boards

    • 1). Scrub the headliner board with a scrubbing brush or sandpaper to remove any foam residue.

    • 2). Saturate a soft terry cloth with water and dish soap.

    • 3). Place the cloth over any glue spots on the headliner.

    • 4). Cover the headliner board with a plastic sheet or trash bag.

    • 5). Leave the moist cloths on the headliner for four hours, allowing the glue to moisten.

    • 6). Remove the plastic covering and moist cloth.

    • 7). Wet another terry cloth with soap and water.

    • 8). Dab the softened glue with the cloth. Rub gently to remove the glue.

    • 9). Use a cotton ball moistened with rubbing alcohol on stubborn glue.

      Wipe the headliner board clean with a wet, soap-free terry cloth.

      Allow the headliner board to dry completely. Install the board after it is dry.

    Fiberglass Headliner Boards

    • 1). Scrub the headliner board with a scrubbing brush or sandpaper to remove any foam residue.

    • 2). Moisten the glue using the wet terry cloth and plastic sheet process.

    • 3). Saturate a cotton ball with acetone.

    • 4). Rub moist glue with the acetone to remove it from the fiberglass headliner board. Use a toothbrush saturated with a acetone for tough spots.

    • 5). Wipe the headliner board clean with a wet, soap-free terry cloth.

    • 6). Allow the headliner board to dry completely before installing it.
