- 1). Check instrument panel and read the message.
- 2). Take vehicle to Toyota dealer if the message states "Check Engine."
- 3). Refer to the accompanying list if a "P" code is showing on the message box.
- 4). Check the part that the error codes refer to and start testing. It may be a simple fix that you can repair at home.
- 5). Refer vehicle to a Toyota dealer when codes indicate more complex problems. There are some problems you will not be able to fix on your own, therefore, a repair shop or dealership is necessary.
